WHO WE ARE
Height of Land Publications creates print and digital media for four outdoor magazines: Backcountry, Alpinist, Mountain Flyer, and Cross Country Skier. We’re a small, focused team based in Jeffersonville, Vermont, and we care deeply about the stories we tell and the way they look on the page, on screen, and everywhere in between.
THE ROLE
Work with the Art Director to design and produce our magazines, plus digital and marketing assets. This is a hands-on role with real creative input across editorial layout, photography, production, and brand storytelling.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design editorial layouts across four magazine titles
- Assist with visual direction for features and covers
- Select and edit photography for print and digital
- Create assets for web, social, and marketing
- Prep files for print and support production workflow
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 2–4 years design experience
- Strong portfolio (typography, layout, image-driven work)
- Proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
- Organized, detail-oriented, able to manage deadlines
- Interest in editorial design and visual storytelling

DETAILS

- Full-time salary: $50,000/year
- Part-time: typically 20–25 hours/week, with compensation prorated; contract/retainer structures likely $2,000–$2,500/month, depending on scope and experience
